Pilgrim Home honours the historians, restorers and volunteers who make such a valuable contribution to our heritage.


Jane Williams – Producer & Director

After meeting a woman calling herself the ‘Pilgrim Mother’ Jane set out to investigate more about the Pilgrims and to understand why Thanksgiving is so big in America but goes by unnoticed in England. That journey led her to Scrooby Manor where she ventured into history via the investigation of a family home.


The Dunstan Family – Scrooby Manor

Scrooby Manor is a private family home owned by the Dunstan Family. David Dunstan is in charge of the renovation and Julie the research. They have kindly allowed the camera behind closed doors to enable its history to be shared. Visits are by arrangement only or on heritage days. The grounds are also home to Manor Opera organised by their daughter Kamilla.


Sue Allan, Historian

Sue Allan is a historian and novelist writing predominately about the Pilgrims. She is the local historian and driving force behind the research of Scrooby Manor. Sue has appeared on TV in the UK and American and is recognised internationally for her research into the origins of the Pilgrims.


Richard Pickering, Historian – Plimoth Patuxet Museums

Richard is a leading historian at the 17th century Plimoth Patuxet a living history museum in Plymouth, Massachusetts, founded in 1947. He is devoted his life to the study of the Pilgrims and is a popular and engaging speaker.


Kathleen Burke, Professor Emerita, Modern and Contemporary History – University College, London.

Kathleen Burk is a regular contributor on BBC Radio 4’s ‘In Our Time’ hosted by Melvin Bragg and is an author of several scholarly books on the history of the United States of America.


Steve Wilson, Composer

Musician, composer, producer bass guitar & uke player, video creator, gardener, and cat lover. Steve also produced and wrote songs for a multi platinum album by Tony Christie. The team are delighted that Steve has composed an original score for the film.

Gloriana Living History and Tudor Dance

Gloriana are a Midland based group who have wonderful replica costumes and perform historically accurate Tudor dancers. Gloriana can be found at historical locations up and down the country and are always on the look out for new recruits.


Rattlejaq Morris

Rattlejaq use music from East Yorkshire, Nottingham and Lincolnshire to revive and develop the dance tradition in the local area. Morris Dancers would have been a familiar sight in 17th century England welcoming the seasons.


Lord Burgh’s Retinue

Lord Burgh’s Retinue are a late medieval historical re-enactment society dedicated to bringing to life the period know as the Wars of the Roses. Their military demonstrations are fantastic and they can often be found at Gainsborough Old Hall in Lincolnshire, a location in the film.


Tony Mugridge, Master Brick Maker

Tony Mugridge is the last travelling master brick-maker and masonry dating expert in Britain. He is freeman of the Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers of the City of London. Tony is one of only a handful of bricks experts left worldwide.
